Concrete is
all we pour.
That's the point.
We don't dabble in landscaping, fencing, or general remodeling. Concrete is what we do — engineered for Iowa's 40+ freeze-thaw cycles a year, poured by a crew that's seen what cuts corners cost.
Iowa winters write the spec.
Des Moines winters are tough on concrete. Freezing temps crack driveways. Thawing cycles break apart slabs. Hot, humid summers bake surfaces and cause them to shift.
We pour, repair, and finish concrete across the Des Moines metro for clients who can't afford for it to fail. Materials are chosen for Iowa's freeze-thaw conditions. Joints are placed to control where cracks form. Cure plans account for the weather forecast on pour day.
A driveway, foundation, or commercial slab done right should last 30+ years. That's the only standard we work to.
Six rules. No exceptions.
These aren't marketing claims — they're the standards every crew on every job follows. We don't skip any of them, even on a small dumpster pad.
- 01
Mix is non-negotiable
Air-entrained 4,000+ PSI on every exterior pour. Verified on the ready-mix delivery ticket. No shortcuts in Iowa freeze-thaw country.
- 02
Joints control cracks
Saw cuts within 24 hours. Spacing ≤ 2.5× slab thickness in feet. Crack-where-we-want-them, not random.
- 03
Subgrade is the foundation
95% Proctor minimum on compacted aggregate base. Iowa clay shifts. Without prep, the prettiest slab still cracks.
- 04
Permits before pour
We pull every permit Des Moines metro municipalities require — Urbandale, Ankeny, Waukee, West Des Moines, all of them.
- 05
Cure is part of the job
Insulated blankets when cold, curing compounds when hot, joint sealing after 28 days. We finish what we pour.
- 06
Documents on file
Every pour gets a job ticket on file: mix design, weather, crew, cure plan. Warranty traceable for life of the slab.

Who you'll
work with.
DSM Concrete Pros is led by a small operations team and a rotating crew of experienced finishers. Below is the person you're most likely to hear from when you request a bid.
Zachary Schreiber
Zachary coordinates field operations and customer-facing scopes at DSM Concrete Pros. He works directly with crews on Des Moines metro pours and writes the Field Notes blog to share what we learn on the job — pricing, Iowa climate, code, and the trade-offs homeowners run into.
